[Rockstar Couple] Michelle & Shaun's Heavy Metal Backyard BBQ Wedding

Every so often we get a couple that we end up talking to for hours after the business stuff is handled. The contracts are signed, the day is laid out...but we go on and on about books, movies and music. Rarely do ALL THREE things get discussed, but that's how it went with Michelle and Shaun.

Now once we'd heard "Heavy Metal Backyard BBQ Wedding" there wasn't much these two could have done to be rid of us, so it was a big bonus that they didn't want to...

It was a perfect October day when we got to the tented backyard to find Michelle and Shaun wandering around doing the last minute things. We gushed over the skull and autumn flower centerpieces and paper mache masks. Everywhere there we personalized touched and goodies for the guests.

Michelle had her mother and best friend Jack helping her get ready. I loved everything she was wearing, natch. Skeletal cameo jewelry? Ink black dress? My kinda gal.

The ceremony was led by Jack, cradling an old school microphone and smiling. They exchanged rings (and were among the many couples we've seen this year have to really SHOVE that ring on!) and filled a glass skull with red and black sand.

After the ceremony and some family formals, it was time for the real rings to go on. Michelle and Shaun didn't go for diamonds...they went for INK. Jaena Tuleja did the inking.

The rest of the day was full of heavy metal (I never thought I'd hear Life of Agony at a wedding. +1), beer on tap and delicious food. We even ended the day with some champagne in their amazing personalized glasses.

James and I were totally in the spirit.

We had such a ball shooting this wedding, thank you Michelle and Shaun!! <3

[Rockstar Couple: Election Edition!] Steph & Greg's Vegan Habitat Wedding (Belmont, MA)

It's nearing Election Day and if you're anything like the average American, you're probably pretty sick of the mud-slinging, heated workplace debates and rage-inducing Facebook bickering by now. Well, let us tell you a little love story, about Greg, a former marine with an infectious smile and Steph, his wicked smart, beautiful bride just back from Guatemala where she was studying Spanish like a boss. They met as first-year doctoral students at the MA School of Professional Psychology and fell for each other campaigning for President Barack Obama in New Hampshire's Nashua office during the 2008 election.

They shared their first date at an Obama rally in Manchester, NH...their first kiss when Obama won the Presidential election and carried their shared political passion to their wedding day. From the all vegan food to the wedding favors- donations to Kiva.org in honor of each guest, Greg and Steph's shared passions came through.

They were married at the MA Audobon Society Habitat in Belmont, MA. This place is gorgeous! We had a ton of fun walking around the beautiful habitat and taking photos.

Here's some favorite shots from their amazing day!

Steph says "Married life is great and we're both really happy. We still can't believe how perfect the wedding was." I can, because when you're that in love and that happy with your place in the universe...everything is perfect! Congratulations to the happy couple! <3

[Rockstar Couple] Jessica & Erica's Provincetown Beach Wedding (Provincetown, MA)

Another summer wedding, this one on the beautiful beaches of Provincetown, MA. P-Town, if you've never been, is unbelievable! I love shooting weddings here (attn: future brides) so when Jessica contacted me just a week before flying in from Florida for the big day, I was really excited. James was out of town shooting a wedding in Arizona (he fancy) so I was flying solo. After a couple of satisfying hours wandering the shops and stuffing my face, I walked down the steamy streets to meet the brides!

We met up at The Red Inn on Commercial Street (super cute place) and we walked to the damp sandy beach out back with their JP and their neighbor from their hotel who took a shine to them and wanted to witness their vows.

Here's some of my favorite shots from our mini-wedding session!
